Hi Orlando,

I hope you are well. My name is Peter Potts and I am a documentary film editor based in Bangkok, Thailand. I think we had a chat a couple of years ago when you were looking for an online editor for an Al Jazeera film you were making. I just wanted to get in touch and say hi and see if you had any need for an editor at the moment or in the near future.

If you would like to see some of my work please check out my website at www.peterjpotts.com - it has clips from a lot of the shows I have done and some of the photographs I have taken over the years, although my new pictures are on Flickr or Facebook now.

Again, hope you are well and hope to hear from you soon.

Cheers,

Peter

Hi Orlando,

Hope you are well. I'm in the process of lining up some filming in Mindanao for a Sky TV documentary and was wondering if you had a few moments to share some insight on the dos and donts of working there.

Your experience there seems far more in depth and extensive than most others so any nuggets of advice you can offer would be hugely appreciated!

What is the best number to contact you on?

Many thanks and best wishes

Hi Orlando,

My name is Peter Spark and I'm an associate producer at VBS.tv.
VBS.tv produces current cultural, social, and environmental programming for youth audiences around the world. Our programs air on a variety of outlets including the Discovery Channel, MTV and Sky TV.

We are coming to Bangkok at the beginning of September to shoot a documentary and will be filming around Thailand for two weeks.

We are currently searching for a good local camera op who knows how to use a Canon 5d.

You come highly recommended and I'm wondering if you are available or interested in working with us.

Let me know if you have time to jump on the phone and talk to discuss some details
or feel free to email me at your earliest convenience.

I really hope we can work something out!

Look forward to hearing from you.

Best,

Peter

Orlando:
I am a film maker like yourself and with my associate, Lucas Li, we are working on developing a film in Thailand. This is the first time for both of us in tackling a topical subject. For myself, I have worked mostly with NGO's or science organizations to document the work that they are doing (gallery.me.com/cwterry5 for some films and photos of current projects). We have talked about making this film for a number of years and at this years Australian International Documentary Conference we received some interest from Al Jezeera English Witness program on the approach we were taking. Although we are still developing the story, Lucas will be in Thailand for a few months helping his uncle on a project for the government setting up a spiritual shrine. Also his father is there as head of communications for a large retail company so he some access to facilities. We hope to take advantage of his being there to interview possible subjects for our film, though contacts we have made through a variety of sources including his family.

We need to keep our costs down at this stage so I will not be making the trip until we have our story more developed and the particular subjects we will be focusing on. This means Lucas will be on his own conducting interviews and some initial filming and coverage. We have both seen some of your films and particularly drawn inspiration for the film 'Recruitment Day' as model for the approach we are using for our film. Since you have established yourself in Southeast Asia as a film maker with Archipelago TV and have worked in Thailand, we were hoping you might have some advice or tips for us. Not to be presumptuous at all and I realize how busy you must be but I believe we are all a part of a community of film makers and journalist and any small help or contribution to our effort would be greatly appreciated. I also hope I will be able to return the favor someday.
Best regards,
Clifford

Hi Orlando!

I've been watching more of your videos now that I know what your website is. I had already seen a few of these, but it's great to have your website and have access to all of these. You do amazing work (I already knew that, but I don't know that I've ever articulated that to you). The stories you report on are heartwrenching...I really appreciate knowing the things that I have learned from your work. I am just left with this sense of loss of knowing what to do about these kinds of issues. I've passed this site on to my friends and will continue to do so as I meet new people. Anyway, wanted you to know that I am watching and learning and appreciating your work.

Much love to you,
Michelle...in Seattle :)

Hi Orlando!

Awesome website--congrats! I will be a frequent visitor. I need to get you to East Timor do some stories--10 years after independence what does it look like, sort of thing. Some good, lots of status quo as far as poverty when you get out of the capital of Dili and increasing concern about how a few families control the wealth.

I hopw you and Anna and the boys are all well. Happy new year!

love and hugs,
