Orlando de Guzman returns to the site of a massacre in the Indonesian province of Aceh and finds a population still traumatized by a decades old conflict. Broadcast on PBS Frontline/World in June 2007. Running time 20:00
In 2003, while on assignment for the BBC, Orlando de Guzman witnessed the fresh aftermath of a massacre of young men by the Indonesian special forces in the break-away province of Aceh. Soon after his expose, Indonesia banned all foreign journalists in Aceh until the Indian Ocean tsunami, which killed over 170,000 Acehnese, forever changed the direction of the conflict. In the relief effort that followed, the Indonesian military once again opened up the area to foreigners. De Guzman returns to Aceh and meets a war traumatized population long forgotten after the tsunami.
