Gun Culture was filmed by Orlando de Guzman at great personal risk deep in the Sulu countryside at a time when a bloody clan war was raging and Abu Sayyaf had kidnapped a local television crew. The film provides the missing link to any discussion about counter-terrorism in the southern Philippines, a region long crippled and destabilized by small yet violent clan feuds that color almost every aspect of social and political life.
